Tags in XML can describe any 1-wire device. Many 1-wire devices have nonvolatile memory that can serve as storage for the XML tag. This enables the device to be self-describing: when scanning an unknown bus of devices, you can read each device's tag to determine its purpose and to automatically configure your software.
For the initial efforts of this project, we're tagging Systronix's 8x1-Wire Digital I/O boards.
